Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers reported they were contacted by a man who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials announced they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.

An important representative commented the vandalism rendered him stunned and had to be solved quickly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in 2020.
