Sam Fender has donated the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the MVT, which works to save the UK's grassroots concert spaces.

He was presented with the cheque on mid-October as his latest record his work was declared the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

Fender has opted to hand the money over to the trust, in recognition of the crucial part small stages fulfilled in his beginning days.

"As an artist would not have achieved what I am doing today if it weren't for all the gigs I performed around the North East, and beyond, when I was just getting going," said Sam Fender. "These venues are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these venues have ceased operations – roughly 16 percent of the total UK scene.

Recently, well-known musicians such as the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by including a modest fee to their admission fees, which supports independent venues.

He also joined in, generating in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to help 38 local spots across Britain.

These funds supported venues that were confronting imminent closure due to difficulties caused by floods, fires and bereavements, as well as permit problems, court cases and sound issues.

Other venues obtained financial assistance in improving facilities and gear that positively impacted performers and fans.

"The notion that funds from concerts in big venues helps the smaller venues, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just logical," the star has said.

And winners that year M People contributed their winnings to a MS organization after a acquaintance was found to have the condition.

"Receiving the award was sufficient," stated singer Heather Small. "The prize was the bonus but we could do without the cherry, because we had the main prize. So our winning affected the lives of others."

Recently, the trust announced it had protected a couple of local spots in south-east England, by bringing them into local control.

The Joiners in Southampton and The Croft in the city were purchased under the community ownership initiative, which is backed by a national body and music fans who acquire "shares" in the venues.
